Create Bootable USB Drive from Windows 10 ISO Using Official Tool

If you don't have Windows 10 setup ISO and want to create Windows 10 bootable USB drive to format and install Windows 10 in your computer, you have come to the right place. This tutorial will help you in downloading genuine Windows 10 offline ISO file officially from Microsoft servers and creating bootable USB drive from Windows 10 ISO. You'll always get latest Windows 10 version ISO file using this guide.

In previous article, we told you how to burn Windows 10 ISO to USB drive and make the USB drive bootable, so that you can boot your computer using USB drive and clean install Windows 10 in your computer.

The method given in above mentioned article requires Windows 10 offline ISO image file, so you need to download Windows 10 ISO first to be able to use the above mentioned method.
Today in this article, we are going to share another method to download Windows 10 ISO and then create bootable USB drive for or from Windows 10 ISO without using any 3rd party software. This is the best and easiest method to create Windows 10 bootable USB drive.
We'll use Microsoft's official Media Creation Tool to create bootable USB drive for Windows 10 ISO. The best part of this method is that it'll always download the latest version of Windows 10 for you, so you'll always have the latest released version of Windows 10 in your computer. Also you don't need to worry about various settings such as boot loader, MBR, etc at the time of creating bootbale USB drives. The tool will take care of everything.


If you also want to download genuine Windows 10 offline ISO file officially from Microsoft servers and then want to create a bootable USB drive from Windows 10 ISO, this method will help you.
You can also save Windows 10 ISO file on your computer using this method and then can burn the ISO to USB or DVD later.
Let's start the tutorial:
STEP 1:
First of all download Windows 10 Media Creation Tool provided officially from Microsoft:

When you go to above mentioned page, click on "Download tool now" button given under "Create Windows 10 installation media" section.

It'll start downloading the MCT (Media Creation Tool) executable file on your computer.

STEP 2:

After downloading the tool, run it. It'll take a few seconds in collecting information and preparing. It'll show "Getting a few things ready" message for a few seconds.
After that it'll show EULA (license terms) screen, click on "Accept" button.
Now the tool will ask whether you want to "Upgrade this PC now" or want to "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC". Select the second option "Create installation media for another PC" and click on "Next" button.

Now the tool will ask to select Windows 10 language, edition and architecture type. By default, it'll select all things automatically based on the currently installed Windows 10 edition in your host system. If you want to select a different Windows 10 edition, language and architecture, uncheck "Use the recommended options for this PC" option and then select desired options using drop-down box.

You can select any desired language and architecture type i.e. 32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64) or both. After selecting options, click on "Next" button.
PS: The tool will now detect for sufficient free space on C: drive, so that it can download Windows 10 ISO and create bootable USB drive. It requires at least 16 GB of free space on C: drive. If you have less free space on C: drive, the tool will throw error message "16GB of free disk space needed on (C:). Remove files you no longer need or use Disk Cleanup to free up space, and then try again".
Now the tool will ask you to select whether you want to create bootable USB drive or just want to download and save Windows 10 offline ISO file for later use. Since we want to create bootable USB drive, select first option "USB flash drive" and click on "Next" button. Make sure the capacity of USB drive attached to the system is at least 8 GB.

Now the tool will detect the USB drive attached to the system. If there is no USB drive connected, it'll show "We can't find a USB flash drive" error message. Attach your USB drive and click on "Refresh drive list" option. The tool will immediately detect your USB drive.

PS: Remember the tool will format your USB drive, so make sure to take a backup of existing files stored on your USB drive first.
Now the tool will start downloading Windows 10 offline ISO from Microsoft servers. It'll download the latest Windows 10 version (feature update) for you. You'll be able to see the progress of download.

After downloading the ISO, the tool will verify the integrity of ISO file.
Now the tool will start creating bootable USB drive from Windows 10 ISO file. You'll be able to see the progress.

That's it. Once the process finishes, you'll see "Your USB flash drive is ready" message. Click on "Finish" button.
At last, the tool will clean temporary files created during the download and burning process from your system.
