If you use Windows 10 operating system in your computer, you might be aware of the Action Center and its notifications. Action Center also known as Notification Center can be accessed by clicking on its icon shown at the end of the Taskbar notification area (system tray). It displays a list of all notifications sent by various applications or Windows.

Whenever a new notification is sent by an app or Windows, Action Center shows a toast notification fly-out on screen. The notification also plays a sound clip to grab user's attention.

Sometimes this sound event may annoy you while you are working on some important work and you might want to disable the sound for all notifications in Windows 10.

Previously, turning off sound for all notifications at once was not possible in Windows 10. Users were allowed to disable sound for individual app notification not globally. Although advanced users could disable the notification sound event using classic Sound applet in Control Panel.

Now newer versions of Windows 10 come with a built-in function to disable or mute notifications sounds globally in Windows 10.

You can disable sound for all apps and notifications using a single toggle and it'll permanently turn off all notifications sound.

If you also want to disable sound for all notifications in Windows 10, following steps will help you:
1. Open Action Center and click on Manage notifications link showing at the top of Action Center.
OR
Open Settings app from Start Menu or by pressing WIN+I keys together. Now go to "System -> Notifications & actions" section.
OR
Alternatively, You can directly launch this page using "ms-settings:notifications" command in RUN dialog box as mentioned here.
2. Under Notifications section, look for following option:
  • Allow notifications to play sounds
This checkbox is enabled by default which means all notifications can play sound.
